This article explains the process for upgrading a computer with Windows 11 Home edition to Windows 11 Pro using the Microsoft 365 upgrade license.
- Contact Kingdom MSP to purchase the upgrade license.
- Go to M365 portal, Your Products -> Software -> Windows 11 Home to Pro Upgrade -> Show Activation Keys
- Copy activation key and add to your documentation as being assigned to the device
- Log into the Windows 11 Home device and disconnect it from the network, including Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections
- Go to Settings -> System -> Activation -> Upgrade your edition of Windows -> Change product key
- Use the default Pro upgrade key (VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T). Do NOT use the activation key from step 3 here, as it will fail.
NOTE: You may need to Google another default key if this one doesn't work - Restart the computer (You will likely be prompted to do this automatically)
- Once the computer has rebooted, go to Settings -> System -> Activation -> Upgrade your edition of Windows -> Change product key
- Enter the key purchased and noted in step 3.
NOTE: If this step fails, you may need to reconnect to the network again
You should now be running Windows 11 Pro!
